Coal India Limited will seek its shareholdersÂ´ nod to extend the tenure of Sutirtha Bhattacharya, 58, as its Chairman and Managing Director till August 31, 2017. Bhattacharya took charge as Coal India-Â´s full-time CMD on January 5, a post which had been lying vacant for over six months.
It will be a game changer in the sense of providing a platform for transparent auctions of coal blocks. These blocks were earlier allocated in such a manner that the Supreme Court and other agencies had concerns over its allocations, leading to its cancellation.
Development of infrastructure is vital for the progress of Indian economy. However, a collective support of other sectors is required to achieve its goal.
