Bhubaneswar to get 3 flyovers at Rs 140 cr
To tide over the traffic snarls in Bhubaneswar, the Odisha government has decided to construct three more flyovers at a cost of Rs 140 crore at Housing Board Square, Nalco Square and Damana Square. While the flyover at Housing Board Square would be built at a cost of nearly Rs 74 crore, the overbridges at Nalco Square and Damana would be commissioned at around Rs 66 crore each.
Navi Mumbai’s two key roads to get flyovers
The Mumbai Metropolitan Regional Development Authority (MMRDA) will construct flyovers on Palm Beach Road and Thane-Belapur Road in Navi Mumbai to decongest traffic on the two main roads. This was stated by the Maharashtra State Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan.
Kerala govt to build 22 new roads
The Kerala State Cabinet on June 12 gave its approval to an ambitious project to develop 22 new roads/flyovers in various parts of the state and the State capital Thiruvananthapuram. Flyovers will be built at Palarivattom, Vytilla and Kundanoor on the Edapally-Aroor stretch of the National Highway and at Kalamaserry Apollo junction, as part of the project. Kerala govt to decide on Kochi flyovers within a fortnight
The Kerala government will soon decide on constructing flyovers at the extremely congested Vyttila, Palarivattom and Kundanoor junctions in Kochi city, the State Minister for Public Works VK Ebrahim Kunju said on May 27. The State Cabinet will decide it within a fortnight. As for the Edappally flyover, the DMRC is expected to begin work within four months and complete it within 18 months, he said, following a PWD review meeting held in Kochi on May 27.
Work incomplete on several bridges in Chennai
Media reports say that work on several bridges and flyovers in Chennai is incomplete and and in a few cases like Rettai Eri junction and Korattur railway level crossing, where a new bridge and a subway were announced in 2010, are yet to begin. Chennai Corporation, Southern Railway and State highways are the three major players involved in executing these projects and almost all bridge work in Chennai are running behind schedule.
