To provide banking services to localities with 2000 or less population in Himachal Pradesh, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has set a target of opening 800 new bank branches in the state by 2014-15. General Manager of RBI, Shimla, RS Negi said that the RBI had achieved target of financial inclusion after opening bank branches in these having more than 2000 population in 2012.

Reconstruction of roads in full swing in U’khand, Himachal
Rehabilitation of road network in natural calamity-hit Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh is continuing by the Border Roads Organisation (BRO). As per the latest figures, the BRO has pressed into service more than 120 excavators and bulldozers in the rehabilitation works. About 30 km of road in the area has to be made afresh. Around 4,000 BRO personnel and laborers are working to complete the task on war footing.
IL&FS gets nod for three road projects
Concession agreements have been signed with the authorities concerned for three road projects in Rajasthan, Punjab and Himachal Pradesh, IL&FS Transportation Networks has stated in a communication to the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE). The road projects are: Kiratpur Ner Chowk section of NH 21 of 90.175 km in Punjab and Himachal Pradesh.
SJVN plans power projects
RP Singh, Chairman of SJVN informed that the firm may invest about Rs 986 crore on several projects, including wind and thermal during 2013-14 compared to Rs 796 crore invested in the previous fiscal.
Snow cleared, road repairs continue on Rohtang Pass
In Himachal Pradesh, the Rohtang Pass, the gateway to adventure tourism destinations of Lahaul Valley was cleared of winter snows on April 25 but the traffic through the pass will be restored only by May first week, an official said in Manali. The snow-clearing operation is over and now the repair of the road between Manali and Keylong is on.
IOC searches land for depot project
The Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) is learnt to have sent a team of officials to identify land for the proposed oil depot project in Una district of Himachal Pradesh. The company plans to set up the depot in Una district after the proposed depot project at Kadd village was shelved

Centre to allot 40 gas agencies to remote areas in HP
Himachal Pradesh Civil Supply and Consumer Affairs Minister GS Bali informed the state assembly that around 40 new gas agencies would be spread out in the far flung areas of the state under Rajiv Gandhi Yojana of the central government. The agencies would make LPG gas readily available in the rural areas at lower price. It is learnt that in far-flung areas people are forced to bear the heavy cost
Hydel project gets $315 mn ADB loan
A 450 MW hydroelectric project in the Kinnaur district of Himachal Pradesh received $315 million loan assistance from the Asian Development Bank (ADB). The multilateral lending institution entered into a pact to this effect with the Government of India.

Fund crunch delays HP tunnel projects
Three mega traffi c tunnel projects—two of them cleared by the state government in Himachal Pradesh in July 2012—may not take off any time soon.
