NTPC has recorded its highest-ever power generation capacity 866.47 million units in a day from sources like coal, solar, gas and hydro.

NTPC records highest single-day generation of 733.12 MUs
NTPC achieved the largest single day generation of 733.12 million units on August 27. The generation was from its 18 coal-based plants, seven gas-based and eight solar and hydro stations. The cumulative capability of the stations was 91.10 per cent and plant load factor was 86.34 per cent.

SPML Infra to raise funds
SPML Infrastructure is evaluating options to raise funds by divesting stake in hydro power and road assets. It is also planning to raise up to Rs 1 billion through the QIP.
BHEL commissions HP hydro project
With the commissioning of the 4th and final 130 MW hydro generating unit and Parbati III hydro-electric project (HEP) in Himachal Pradesh, Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) has successfully commissioned all the four units of the 520 MW underground hydro power plant of NHPC.
Discussion on hydro projects
The Union Power Ministry has taken up the issue of environmental and forest clearances to hydel projects with the Environment Ministry. The initiative is to encourage development of hydro sector in the country.
SJVN plans power projects
RP Singh, Chairman of SJVN informed that the firm may invest about Rs 986 crore on several projects, including wind and thermal during 2013-14 compared to Rs 796 crore invested in the previous fiscal.
