Most complex tax regime by far

SPV for coal block development in Odisha
The Jammu and Kashmir state cabinet has approved the formation of a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) for development of the coal block at Kudnali Laburi, (Talcher) in Odisha allocated jointly to JKSPD and NTPC by the Union Ministry of Coal.

Alstom secures GVK contract
Alstom has bagged a contract worth about Rs 850 crore from GVK Power and Infrastructure to provide equipment for the 850 MW Ratle hydropower project in Jammu and Kashmir. The contract calls for Alstom to supply four 205 MW Francis turbine units and one 30 MW unit. The turbines will be manufactured at the company's facility in Vadodara. Alstom said it expects it to be commissioned in 2017.

BRO to start work on Reasi road in J&K
In Jammu and Kashmir, the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) on September 27 started construction of Reasi-Mahore road and submitted compliance report after the District Magistrate initiated criminal proceedings against its Chief Engineer and notice served up the DG BRO for bad condition of roads in Reasi.

J&K gets grant for rural roads
Rural road projects in Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) received a grant of Rs 710 crore from the Central Government. The grant would enable completion of Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) projects, which are delayed because of issues in land acquisition.
