The Union Civil Aviation Ministry is likely to send a note this week to the Cabinet Secretariat, seeking a post-facto approval for the seat-sharing pact between Etihad Airways and Jet Airways where India offered an additional 36,670 seats on flights between the two countries over the next three years. The bilateral agreement was signed on the same day in April when the Jet-Etihad deal was announced.

Govt defends Rs 2,000 cr Jet-Etihad deal
The Union government on July 2 defended the nearly Rs.2,000 crore deal between Jet Airways and Abu Dhabi-based carrier Etihad, saying the investment is important for India and opposition to the pact is politically motivated. Those opposing the deal are long on politics and short on facts, Union Civil Aviation Minister Ajit Singh said about the widespread opposition to the deal.
India opposes EU aviation norms
Even as the European Commission said it might fine Air India and Jet Airways for not sharing emission data, the two Indian airlines remain opposed to the European Union (EU)Â’s emission norms for airlines. EUÂ’s emission trading scheme (ETS) requires airlines to report emission data (for flights within and to/from Europe) and purchase credits in case the emission exceeds capped limits.
Jet Airways may order for 100 aircraft: CAPA
The Centre for Asia Pacific Aviation (CAPA) estimates that Jet Airways could be ordering over 100 aircraft valued at a list price of over $12 billion at the Paris Air Show which is to begin on June 17. The aircraft order is likely to be equally divided between Boeing and Airbus.

To offer seamless travel to South Africa-bound passengers Jet Airways has entered into a code share arrangement with South African Airways. The code share agreement comes into effect from April 18, a Jet Airways release said in Mumbai on April 16. Code-sharing allows an airline to book its passengers on its partner carriers and provide seamless transport to multiple destinations where it has no presence.
Jet wants to treble seats between India, Abu Dhabi
Jet Airways is pushing hard in favour of the Abu Dhabi government's demand to treble the number of seats flown between the two countries to over 40,000 per week from 13,300 at present. According to government sources, Abu Dhabi has asked for a huge revision in the number of seats used by airlines to fly between the two countries and the negotiations with the Indian government will take place next week in the Emirate.
Jet airways to up its international capacity
Jet Airways is to increase capacity on international routes and induct two Boeing 777s this year. The airline, which earns about 55 per cent of revenue from international operations, has leased five Boeing 777s to Thai Airways; the lease term would end this year.
