The second GreenPort South Asia Conference will again be held in Mumbai, on 26-27 February 2014. In order to ensure the Conference continues to deliver content pertinent to the region it serves, an Advisory Board has now been formed.

Govt to set up special cell to expedite infra projects
The Prime Minister Manmohan Singh directed that a special cell be created immediately in the Cabinet Secretariat. This cell would be in the nature of a Project Monitoring Group for all large projects,
Preventing illegal mining
In order to curb irregularities in the mining sector, the section 23C of the MMDR Act, 1957 empowers states to frame appropriate rules. The Centre asked states to introduce rules under this section to prevent illegal mining, transportation and storage of minerals.
Ministry introduces norms to promote mining sector
In order to encourage scientific approach to solve the emerging mining challenges, Union Mines Ministry introduced a set of guidelines for the sector.
Final draft guidelines for tariff setting
The Shipping Ministry will publish the final draft guidelines for tariff setting by cargo terminal operators in ports. The new regime will apply prospectively to cargo handling projects bid out after the draft is notified.
Govt to release shale gas policy
Union government would announce policy on exploration and production of shale gas soon. The ministry will finalise the policy once it receives comments from different ministries.
Maharashtra frames PPP policy
The urban development department of the Maharashtra government framed a new policy in order to address issues, such as settling of claims and risk-sharing, arising out of delays in public private partnership (PPP) projects.
Karnataka cancels mining leases
According to the order of the Supreme Court, the Karnataka government has cancelled 51 iron ore mining leases in Category C. Holders of these mines were charged of carrying out rampant mining illegally outside the lease area
Goa govt sets up panel
Goa government set up a steering committee to monitor the progress in the development of the Raigarh coal block allocated to the Goa Industrial Development Corporation (GIDC).

Twelve companies received show cause notice from the union coal ministry for not developing the allocated coal blocks within the stipulated timeframe.
