For Maharashtra and Gujarat, the Union government has sanctioned money for building 3,500 km roads in the two states. Road overbridge in Nagpur may open soon to ease traffic
In Nagpur, the road overbridge (ROB) near GaosiManapur is expected to be complete in a month or so. Once it is completed commuters can hope for reduction in heavy traffic inside the city at night. The outer ring road (ORR) stretch linking Gondkhairi on Amravati Road and GaosiManapur on Wardha Road is complete except for a 150-foot span over the railway line.
Road repairs neglected in Nagpur
In Nagpur, private contractors working on 24X7 water supply project are not filling up road trenches properly nor levelling roads after laying pipelines. Road sections have caved in at many places, increasing chances of mishaps.
Rs 14.29 cr approved for widening of Nagpur’s Lam Road
In Nagpur, the widening of Lam Road from Saubhagya Nagar to Deolali Camp has got a green signal as the district collectorate has, in principle, approved the Rs 14.29-crore proposal from the Deolali Cantonment Board. The six-km stretch will be converted into four lanes with proper dividers, streetlights, footpaths, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Deolali Cantonment Board, Amol Jagtap said.
Model solar cities
The Union New and Renewable Energy Ministry is to develop 41 cities, including Chandigarh, Nagpur, Mysore and Gandhinagar, as model solar cities. The list of proposed solar model cities also includes Gandhinagar, Nagpur and Chandigarh. The Ministry has approved the master plans for the 28 cities and the project installations have already started in a few cities, the Ministry said in a release.
