The toll plaza between Delhi and Gurgaon on the national highway is likely to be removed. The toll plaza has become contentious as users had to wait for long, resulting in traffic block. This also led to an intervention by the Punjab High Court last year. This was one of the options discussed in a meeting held between Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda and the Union Road Transport Minister CP Joshi in Delhi recently.

Chamber wants construction of flyovers at Kochi
Kerala government must begin construction of the proposed flyovers at Edappally and Vyttila in Kochi, Kerala Chamber of Commerce and Industry demanded. HC asks NHAI to explain stand on encroachments
In Uttar Pradesh, the Lucknow bench of the Allahabad high court has expressed concern over rampant encroachment along the national highway on the 15-km stretch from the engineering college on Sitapur Road to the Barabanki border on Faizabad Road. The high court on April 2 issued a notice to the National Highway Authority of India for reply and fixed April 9 for next hearing.
Srinagar’s Pantha Chowk-Sempora road to be widened
Srinagar District Development Commissioner Farooq Ahmad Shah on April 1 convened a meeting of officers for the immediate widening of National Highway from Pantha Chowk to Sempora in Srinagar. Discussions were held for expediting the widening of National highway at Pantha Chowk besides the removal of encroachments and other bottle necks including popular trees and shifting of utilities across the road.
Toll rates hiked on Ernakulam-Thrissur national h’way
In Kerala, the Guruvayur Infrastructure, a joint venture company responsible for toll collection and road maintenance on the Mannuthi-Edappally stretch of the National Highway has hiked the toll rates being charged from motorists at the Paliyekkara toll plaza in Thrissur on March 27. The toll hike has taken place despite strong public protests.
Highways Ministry submits its report to PMO
A detailed report by the Union Highways Ministry has submitted to the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) on year-wise construction/expansion of National Highway (NH) since 1998. The report shows that maximum completion of work (2,693 km) happened during 2009-10 and the second highest (2,351 km) was recorded during 2004-05.
