The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has sought the Centre to allow it to take over the poorly run Gurgaon expressway from the concessionaire. NHAI has also supported the public's demand of doing away with toll collection on the expressway.

Delhi-Gurgaon e’way developer collects Rs 893 cr toll
The Delhi Gurgaon Super Connectivity Ltd (DGSCL), the company operating the Delhi-Gurgaon expressway, has collected nearly Rs 900 crore from motorists. According to official figures submitted by the DGSCL, between February 2008 and July 2013, it collected only Rs 893 crore and NHAI got another Rs 77.5 crore as its share. NHAI officials, however, doubt the toll collection figure saying that the hand held devices used to collect toll at recently installed split plazas have not been integrated.

NHAI cancels road projects due to delay
The board of National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) cancelled three road projects which have seen no progress in implementation despite being awarded. The authority decided to cancel at least five such projects including the above three projects.
NHAI notice to developer
A default notice has been issued to Pink City Expressway company, the developer of Gurgaon-Jaipur highway, by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) for not completing the work in time and poor maintenance even after the end of the 60-day deadline for remedial measures.
The travails of motorists on Jaipur-Gurgoan highway
According to media reports and public complaints, the under construction flyovers on the 240 km Jaipur-Gurgoan highway have turned a nightmare to motorists. The highway has flyovers under construction every third km. NHAI charges around Re 1/km, about Rs 240 as toll. And this is going for the last so many years and the highway is getting worse, especially developing numerous potholes in this rainy season.
NHAI to cancel three highway projects
Media reports say that the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) Board on August 22 has decided to cancel three highway projects of PNC Infra, C&C Construction and Era Infrastructure. Sources concerned said that the developers had not paid the performance guarantee amount after winning the projects and that is why the Board has decided to cancel the highway projects. These developers would lose their bid security, which is one per cent of total project cost.
13 govt firms allowed to raise Rs 48,00 cr via bonds
To facilitate infrastructure needs of public sector institutions the Union government has permitted 13 such institutions to raise Rs 48,000 crore via tax free bonds in 2013-14. With this the government, for the first time, has allowed sovereign wealth funds (SWFs) in the private placement segment of these bonds.

Land Acquisition for National Highway Projects
A large number of National Highway Projects have been stucked due to land acquisition issues. This issue are taken up by NHAI from time to time in consultation with the State Governments by holding regular meetings for expediting the acquisition of land besides taking action.
