Under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY), 881 rural road projects of 2,982 km length worth Rs 1,493 crore have been sanctioned to Odisha by the Union government. This was disclosed by the Union Rural Development Minister Jairam Ramesh in a letter to the Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.

Concern over delay in PMGSY road projects in Odisha
In Odisha, implementation of road projects under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) are getting delayed and the Union government has expressed concern on the same. The Union government is also worried over the quality of the construction work of the roads under PMGSY. This has been conveyed to the Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik by the Union Rural Development Minister Jairam Ramesh through a letter.
Odisha gets Rs 1,068 cr worth road works under PMGY
The Union Ministry of Rural Development's Empowered Committee has sanctioned proposals worth Rs 1,068 crore to Odisha under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGY). However, the Union Rural Development Minister Jairam Ramesh has asked the Odisha government to pace up the implementation of infrastructure projects in the state. The State required a quality of roads, the committee also stressed.
Centre okays 2,834 km road upgradation in rural Gujarat
In Gujarat, the pre-empowered committee of the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) has cleared upgradation of the 2,834 km of roads at an estimated cost of Rs 1,064 crore. Union Minister of Rural Development Jairam Ramesh informed Chief Minister Narendra Modi about the Centre's decision in a letter. Ramesh said that a meeting of the pre-empowered committee was held recently and the same has recommended upgradation of 921 roads, covering 2,834 km in all across the state.
Assam to get 3000-km new roads
Media reports say that the Union Cabinet on July 3 approved a proposal by the Rural Development Ministry to relax norms for Assam so that 1,877 unconnected habitats can get road connectivity under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY). These habitats, having population ranging between 250 and 499, will now be connected new roads covering a length of 3,140 km.
Bihar to build 50,000 km roads
Bihar government will construct a network of 50,000 km of roads in the next five years, said Rural Works Department Minister Bhim Singh. Presenting the annual report of his department, Singh said while 11 districts are covered under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY)
J&K gets grant for rural roads
