MoU signed for mega road project
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between the Rajasthan state government and the World Bank for road projects that connect 1,056 identified villages with an assistance of Rs 1,200 crore from the World Bank. The state PWD Minister Yunus Khan said notice inviting tenders would be issued soon and work would begin in the next 60 days.

Nagaland govt to improve roads in Dimapur
The Nagaland government has taken initiative to improve roads in Dimapur, the State's commercial hub. The State PWD (R&B) personnel embarked on improvement and reconstruction of roads as per the directive of Minister for Roads & Bridges Kuzholuzo (Azo) Nienu along the road stretch from Tragopan police point to City Tower and from City Tower to DC Court, Dimapur.
Funds allocated for road works in Varanasi
A budget of Rs 396.47 lakh has been released for road works in Varanasi. The fund for road construction has been allocated to PWD. With this, the turmoil of the Varanasi city commuters may soon come to an end after monsoon seasonl, said the district magistrate PranjalYadav.
Goa mulls to build road with steel slag
The Goa State Pollution Control Board (GSPCB) and the PWD have in principle agreed to build a model pilot road from steel slag. Details are yet to be worked out, with the recent meeting between members of the Board, Public Works and a representative of the industries discussing how to take the project forward.

Green tribunal stays Delhi road widening over tree felling
The National Green Tribunal has ordered an interim stay on PWD's road-widening project along the Andheria Mod-Mahipalpur stretch, where trees were found to be felled illegally. On March 18, a bench headed by NGT Chairman Justice Swatanter Kumar, asked the Delhi government, the Forest Department and PWD to not fell any tree except in cases where permission from the department concerned has been obtained till the next date of hearing.
Kerala plans monorail project
The public works departÂment (PWD) has prepared a detailed project report on the Kozhikode monorail project.The 13-km monorail will be from the Medical College to Meenchanda.The project was expected to cost Rs 1,500 crore, according to the state PWD minster.
