Major ports to double capacity
Union Shipping Minister Nitin Gadkari said Indias 12 major ports will double their cargo handling capacity to 1,600 million tonne per annum (MTPA) in the next five years from the current level of 800 MTPA.

Nitin Gadkari who assumed charge as the Minister for Road Transport & Highways and Shipping, is against the idea of a regulator for roads. He said the focus would be on hastening road projects stuck for long. The roads and highways ministry will also work towards finalising a toll policy.
