In Chennai, Rs 43 crore has been allotted by the Tamil Nadu government for widening a small stretch of Grand Southern Trunk Road in Irumbuliyur, Tambaram. TN likely to get Rs 8,583 cr for road works
The Tamil Nadu government is likely to get Rs 8,583 crore for various road projects of 1,678 km of length. The road works are expected to commence from next year, Rajeev Ranjan, Principal Secretary, Highways and Minor Ports, said in Chennai on October 7.
TN halts work on useful Chennai port e’way
The Tamil Nadu government has asked the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) to hold the Rs 1,800 crore 19-km Chennai Port-Maduravoyal Elevated Express Corridor project as the NHAI has deviated from the approved alignment. Plea to clear hindrances in elevated expressway in Chennai
The Tamil Nadu government should take steps to remove obstacles in the completion of the stalled Chennai Port - Maduravoyal Elevated Expressway, DMK and PMK parties in the state have demanded. DMK said that it would hold a demonstration on August 17 to demand that obstacles in the completion of the Expressway be cleared and the government extend its full support to the project.
Potential of Thoothukudi as Industrial hub
As the Tamil Nadu government targeting the southern parts of the state for industrial development, Thoothukudi on July 27 launched a two-day roadshow to woo investors in Chennai. Former president of The All India Chamber of Commerce and Industries T Vel Shankar said the idea was to make Thoothkudi the investment hub.
TN to award contract for phase-II of Chennai ORR
To construct phase-II of Chennai Outer Ring Road, from Nemilichery to Minjur, the Tamil Nadu government has recently given its nod to a consortium of Ashoka Buildcon and GVR Infra Projects. Work on phase-I of the ORR, from Vandalur to Nemilichery, is nearing completion. On completion, the 61.65-km-long road will form a semicircle around the city and help decongest Chennai’s roads. It will act as a major link and connect four national highways — NH 4, NH 5, NH 45 and NH 205.
