For developing Rs 1,270-crore container terminal at Ennore Port in Tamil Nadu, 11 companies, including four foreign firms, have submitted their Requests for Qualification (RFQ) proposals. These proposals will be evaluated by Ennore Port authorities and the names of short-listed firms announced within the next two weeks. Thursday was the last date for submitting the proposals for developing the Ennore Container Terminal (ECT).

Ennore Port in TN gets 11 bids to build new terminal
For building a Rs 1,270 crore container loading facility the Ennore Port in Tamil Nadu received 11 initial bids from private groups. The deadline for submitting the bids ended on July 25. Ennore Port is IndiaĂâs only Union government-controlled port that is run as a company; the others operate as trusts. The new terminal will have a capacity to load 1.4 million standard containers a year from a berth length of 730 metre.
TN sanctions Rs 2,950 cr for road works
In Tamil Nadu, more than 2,400 road works will be undertaken across the state at a cost of Rs 2,950 crore as part of the Integrated Road Development programme. The State Chief Minister Jayalalithaa on July 24 ordered the allocation for the works that would improve connectivity, besides reducing fuel consumption and travel time. The allocation for this fiscal was higher Ăâ Rs 2,262 crore was set aside last financial year.

Madurai to get S’pore, Dubai flight services next year
In Tamil Nadu, Madurai airport will get international connectivity to Singapore and Dubai, which will possibly materialise by next year and the Union Civil Aviation Ministry is working on the same.
