The first step of a two-phased project designed to address the growing power needs of IndiaÂ’s northern region is now energised. GE Energy Connections has announced that it has successfully transmitted 1,500 MW of power for Phase-1 of the Champa Ultra High Voltage Direct Current (UHVDC) project.

ABB wins Rs 4,350 crore deal for long distance power transmission link
ABB has teamed up with Power Grid Corporation of India Limited in a mega project worth over Rs 4,350 crore for ABB to deliver a transmission link that will have the capacity to bring reliable electricity to more than 80 million people. The Raigarh-Pugalur 800 kilovolt (kV) ultrahigh-voltage direct current (UHVDC) system will connect Raigarh in Central India to Pugalur in Tamil Nadu.
Alstom bags Rs.3,250 cr PowerGrid contract for transmission link
Alstom has been awarded Euro 400 million (Rs 3,250 crore) from Power Grid Corporation for building a transmission link between Haryana and Chhattisgarh.
