A technologically advanced facility called ´Container Digital Exchange´ (CODEX), the first of its kind in India, designed to track movement of container cargo, was established at V O Chidambaranar Port. Pranab Kumar Das, Chief Commissioner of Customs, Chennai, inaugurated the facility in the presence of S Anantha Chandra Bose, Chairman, VOC Port Trust, Thoothukudi, and KC Johny, Commissioner of Customs.

VOC Port to increase port capacity
The V.O. Chidambaranar Port management has initiated a number of schemes for the inner harbour development to increase the existing capacity of the port here from 42.06 million tonne to 85.49 million tonne by 2017, S Anantha Chandra Bose, Chairman of the Port, said.
