For financing road projects in Jharkhand, West Bengal and Maharashtra, IL&FS Transportation Networks on November 7 said it has tied up loans worth over Rs 3,029 crore. The loan agreements have been signed with IndusInd Bank, IL&FS Financial Services and Yes Bank, the company said.

Coal transport for NTPC to begin via Waterway
To move imported coal from Sandheads to NTPC´s super thermal power plant at Farakka in West Bengal along the National Waterway Number One (NW1) will start shortly. NTPC will use the coal for power generation purpose
West Bengal gets 421 rural roads under PMGSY
The Union Rural Development minister Jairam Ramesh has said that his department has finalised funds for 421 roads covering 1,887 km in West Bengal. The State Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had written to the Prime Minister about norms being flouted by the Centre in allotment of funds to states.

Nayachar channel to aid Haldia port
As part of long-term measures to improve navigability at Haldia Dock Complex (HDC) in West Bengal, the Kolkata Port Trust (KoPT) proposes to cut a channel right through the Nayachar island. The Ministry of Shipping and KoPT's board of trustees have approved this project. UK-based HR Wallingford has suggested this channel.
Bengal govt to widen roads to aid industries
To help industrialisation in West Bengal, the State government will improve road connectivity by widening nearly 4,000 km of State highways, said the State Commerce and Industries Minister Partha Chatterjee. Widening of around 1,000-km State highway is likely to be completed this year, he added.
Sagar Island seaport’s phase I to start from 2017
Chairman of Kolkata port RPS Kahlon has said that
construction work on the Rs 8,000-crore Sagar Island seaport in West Bengal would begin in two years and the first phase operations would commence from 2017. Once the port commence operations, cargo handling at the existing Kolkata port would be stopped and the place could be used as anchoring for barges, Kahlon said.
Navy wants pacing up of Sagar port project
To ensure security in the north Bay of Bengal region, the Indian Navy wants the authorities concerned to expedite the Sagar port project in the southern tip of West Bengal. Senior officers from the Navy recently visited Sagar. The Sagar port will be very crucial for the country's defences, the Navy officials said.
