Unnao district in Uttar Pradesh is to get eco-friendly roads to save a lot of natural resources which usually goes waste during construction activities. With an aim to save such wastage, the State government is planning to build eco-friendly roads in the state. Unnao is the first district to get one such road in the next three months.
Uttar Pradesh government has already sanctioned Rs 18 crore for the pilot project of Unnao which would conserve the environment. For an eco-friendly road, lesser mining of natural resources is required. In Unnao, the Rasoolabad-Chakarvansho road would be constructed by using only eco-friendly material.
At present, road construction agencies like PWD and Lucknow Municipal Corporation use only bitumen technology to build roads. this technology requires mining of stones, bitumen and charcoal. The ordinary road is 60 cm thick while the new Eco-friendly road will require just about 48 cm thick layer by using concrete waste, cement, asphalt, fly-ash and mud etc.
