The ongoing railway projects across India would require Rs 1.25 lakh crore for completion. As on 1 April 2011, Railways have a huge throw forwÂard of ongoing projects under new lines, gauge conversions and doubling across the country requiring about Rs 1,25,000 crore for completion, Minister of State for Railways Bharatsinh Solanki said. He said paÂucity of funds, delay in land acquisition, court cases and forÂestry clearance are some of the reasons for the delay in completion of the projects. Failure of contracts and contractors, adverse law and order conditiÂons and non availability of material and other economical reasons are affecting the progress, he said. In such a scenario, he said, no fixed time frame for completion of all the projects would be feasible.
