In order to implement the Rajiv Awas Yojana, the Andhra Pradesh government set up a state-level nodal agency (SLNA), Mission for Elimination of Poverty in Municipal Areas (MEPMA).
Various Urban local bodies in the state are submitting the detailed project reports (DPRs) under the scheme to MEPMA.
The state government also set up a DPR Appraisal Committee headed by commissioner and director of municipal administration to study the DPRs. The panel would study the DPRs for obtaining approval of state-level steering committee (SLSC). After approval by the SLSC, the DPRs would be sent to ministry of housing and urban poverty alleviation for approval of Central assistance.
It may be noted that the union ministry of housing and urban poverty alleviation introduced RAY for the development of slum-dwellers and achieving inclusive and sustainable growth of urban areas. The committee will advise on DPR scrutinised by RAY team of MEPMA before sending it to the government.
