In Nagpur, the road overbridge (ROB) near GaosiManapur is expected to be complete in a month or so. Once it is completed commuters can hope for reduction in heavy traffic inside the city at night. The outer ring road (ORR) stretch linking Gondkhairi on Amravati Road and GaosiManapur on Wardha Road is complete except for a 150-foot span over the railway line.
As of now, the heavy traffic from east on NH6 (Amravati Road) and from south on NH7 (Wardha Road) passes through the city at night leading to accidents. Once ROB is open, trucks from Amravati road will enter the ORR near and can go up to Wardha Road or beyond and vice-versa.
National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) says that except for the span above railway track, the ROB structure was completed in January. Difficulty in obtaining railway blocks (when railway traffic is halted) has delayed the ROB completion. Central Railways had provided blocks on nights of May 30 and 31 but scrapped it. Now, blocks have been provided on nights of June 20 and 21, he said.
