Mumbai’s Nariman Point, the city’s premier business district, is to have India’s first bank exclusively for women by next November. It is called Bharatiya Mahila Bank and is going to be opened in the iconic Air India building in the area. The first branch of the bank will be in a 5,000 sq ft space in the building.
Air India said that it has agreed in principle to give its space in its landmark building in the area to the bank. The branch will come up on the sea-facing side of the building in the ground floor. With the Bhartiya Mahila Bank, the Air India building will have two bank branches on the ground floor, the other is a Bank of India branch.
