While the Bharatiya Mahila Bank’s first branch at national-level is likely to be opened in Mumbai’s Nariman Point in November, newly elected Mandya MP and Kannada actress Ramya has said that she has requested the Union Finance Ministry to set up a branch of the all women’s bank in Mandya district of Karnataka. To facilitate womenÂ’s empowerment, the young MP has urged the Union government to open the proposed public sector all-woman bank branch in her constituency.
She said that Mandya district is likely to get Karnataka’s first all-woman public sector bank by November. She was in Mandya on September 11 to lay the foundation stone for a commercial complex on RAPCMS grounds, off Bangalore-Mysore Highway. Ramya said she had requested Minister of State for Finance Namo Narain Meena to set up the bank branch in Mandya.
She had got a positive response from the Union Minister. The district was likely get the bank by November. Its location, however, was yet to be identified, she said.
