Ginger Hotels of the Tata Group is among the bidders for the projects of the Rail Land Development Authority’s (RLDA) 15 multi-functional complexes (MFCs) out of 43 MFCs offered for development this year till now. RLDA is a statutory authority established by the Union Ministry of Railways for generating non-fare revenue from railway land.
Pantaloons, Cafe Coffee Day, The Loot, Woodland, Apodis Hospitality Krishnan Palace Residency and WH Smith (Travel News Services) are the other prominent bidders for the MFCs, RLDA said on September 12. To develop facilities for rail users, Indian Railways had introduced the concept of MFCs at railway stations.
Shopping stores, food stalls/restaurants, book stalls, automated teller machines, medical stores, parking facilities would be developed in the MFCs. And even budget hotels will be developed in the MFC, if the size of the site is at least 1,500 sq metres.
