In Maharashtra’s Kolhapur district, the recent rains have damaged 850 km of roads. Now the Public Works Department (PWD) has estimated a requirement of Rs 100 crore to repair the roads. The roads in rural areas of the district’s western parts have been badly damaged.
Since the last fortnight, the PWD is receiving reports from the interior parts of the district. Reports say that the condition of roads was bad with potholes, demolished safety walls, muck, sunk and stony patches along the roads.
The PWD is preparing a detailed report that will be submitted to the State government’s Rural Development Department.
