The 35 km Mumbai coastal road project worth Rs Rs 8,000 crore is likely to be put on the fast track and work on the ambitious road project is expected to begin by December next year. The road will run from Nariman Point to Kandivli, and aimed at easing the traffic congestion in western Mumbai.
The coastal road project requires clearance from the Union Ministry of Environment and Forests (MoEF). The road work has various components which needs construction of stilts on mangrove patches and reclamation of land.
The civic body, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) is searching for, where this clearance would not be required, so it can start work in these parts.
