Kanpur to get its first multi-level parking facility next year with a capacity to park 450 vehicles. Construction on the project would begin on Canal Road in the city next year, said the Kanpur Development Authority (KDA).
KDA has estimated a sum of Rs 7.5 crore and allocated the same for the project. The company which won the project had been asked to complete the project in one-and-a-half year, KDA said.
Kanpur is facing acute shortage of parking space, particularly on Mall Road area. The city’s vehicle owners used to park vehicles on road. As a result smooth movement of traffic could not take place at Birhana Road and Karachi Khana area.
Keeping the parking space crunch in mind, the Kanpur Municipal Corporation had recently allowed car owners to park vehicles on the footpath at Phoolbagh Road.
