Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) has commissioned a 160-MW gas-based power plant at Jaisalmer in Rajasthan for the state’s power generation company. Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Ltd (RRVUNL) had placed the order on BHEL for setting up gas turbine-based 160 MW combined cycle power plant as an expansion of the existing Ramgarh power plant, an official statement said.
With the commissioning of the new unit, the capacity of Ramgarh plant has now reached 273.8 MW, taking the gas based generating capacity of RRVUNL to 603.8 MW. The main plant equipment of all these gas-based units has been supplied and commissioned by BHEL.
BHEL has commissioned 4,344 MW of thermal and gas-based sets in Rajasthan which is 88 per cent of the utility’s thermal and gas generating capacity. BHEL is also executing the 250 MW unit 4 at Chhabra power station and the 2×660 MW super-critical units at Suratgarh.
