The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) is preparing a wish list for the new government to seek, among other things, greater leeway to choose between public-private partnership (PPP) and engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) modes while awarding projects instead of compulsorily trying out the PPP option that has led to delays in projects. The issues include those that could not be addressed or found no support under the outgoing government figure in the wish list. The ministry would likely press for an overall increase in public-funded projects as well as streamlining of environment, forest and wildlife clearance processes that have hampered development of strategic roads in border areas, the official added.
