Eastern Railway (ER) has set a record in freight traffic by loading 62.558 million tonnes in 2013-14, which was 3.73 per cent higher than the previous year. This was stated by RK Gupta, General Manager, Eastern Railway. Speaking on the occasion of the 59th Railway Week, Gupta highlighted the performance of ER during 2013-14. He said ER earned Rs 2043.80 crore from originating passenger traffic and Rs 4,838.09 crore from originating freight loading in 2013-14 and focused on plans and targets to be achieved during the current financial year 2014-15.
