The government has cleared an ordinance for e-auctioning of coal blocks that enables commercial mining by private companies in future. In the first round, blocks would be auctioned to companies that will use the coal for firing power, steel and cement plants. The government will offer different blocks to these sectors and expects companies that lost coal blocks would be able to acquire mines through a transparent e-auction in 3-4 months.
