The first metro rail in Ahmedabad will roll before October 2017 on the six-km long inaugural stretch of VastralgamApparel Park. The Metro-link Express for Gandhinagar and Ahmedabad (MEGA) has already dug 304 piles and 20 out of 76 pillars have already come up. The second stretch, to be made operational by 2019, will be the 20-km long APMC-Motera stretch. Also, the old HC premises off Ashram Road will be turned into the main elevated interchange junction. ¨On the North-South corridor, it will run on an elevated platform right above the regional railway line running between Vijaynagar-Usmanpura-Gandhigram till Rajivnagar. From there, it will take a sharp turn towards Jivraj,¨ said MEGA MD IP Gautam.
