The new codeshare agreement between IndiGo and AEGEAN Airlines promises to unlock seamless connectivity between India, South Asia, and Europe, giving AEGEAN access to IndiGo’s vast domestic network, while IndiGo passengers gain new travel options across Greece and the continent.

IndiGo has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for a codeshare partnership with AEGEAN Airlines, Greece’s flag carrier, just hours after announcing its plans to launch direct flights to Athens from Delhi and Mumbai starting January 2026.

The agreement, finalised on Monday evening, aims to enhance seamless connectivity across the two carriers’ combined networks. IndiGo, India’s largest airline by market share and fleet size, said the partnership will enable passengers to book integrated itineraries across both airlines, subject to regulatory approvals.

Under the proposed arrangement, AEGEAN will gain access to a wider range of destinations in India and South Asia via IndiGo’s network, while IndiGo customers will benefit from expanded options across AEGEAN’s domestic and European routes. The collaboration is expected to strengthen bilateral travel and trade links between India and Greece.

“We are pleased to announce our partnership with AEGEAN, marking a significant step forward in our mission to give wings to India and enhance global connectivity,” said Pieter Elbers, CEO of IndiGo. “This collaboration enables our customers to conveniently book seamless itineraries on an expanded, integrated network across both airlines, including beautiful islands in Greece and other regional European destinations. As two ancient civilisations reconnect through aviation, we are excited to meet the growing demand for international air travel and foster stronger business ties between the two nations.”

IndiGo plans to operate six weekly flights to Athens using Airbus A321XLR aircraft, while AEGEAN will launch five weekly services to Delhi and three weekly flights to Mumbai by March 2026.

Streamlined Travel Experience

As part of the codeshare, AEGEAN’s flight code ‘A3’ will be added to a significant number of IndiGo-operated routes within India and South Asia. Conversely, IndiGo’s ‘6E’ code will be placed on AEGEAN’s domestic and European services from its hub at Athens International Airport.

Eftichios Vassilakis, Chairman of AEGEAN, noted, “This step expands AEGEAN’s footprint beyond Europe into one of the world’s most dynamic markets. By combining IndiGo’s extensive domestic network with AEGEAN’s European reach, we offer passengers more choice and convenience, along with a seamless travel experience. We look forward to creating new opportunities for cultural, business and tourism exchanges.”

Passengers will benefit from a streamlined travel experience, including through check-in and coordinated itineraries. IndiGo stated that further details on the codeshare routes and booking options will be announced in due course.

As of September 16, IndiGo has active codeshare agreements with 12 airlines.
