The agreement with Shell India will meet part of the New Delhiheadquartered CGD players projected energy requirement, while it simultaneously evaluates other partnerships to address rising customer demand.

THINK Gas—an AG&P Pratham merged entity and among India’s leading city gas distribution (CGD) players—has announced a long-term gas sales and purchase agreement with Shell Energy India.

Under the terms of the deal, THINK Gas will receive natural gas supplies from Shell Energy India’s portfolio through the Hazira liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal in Gujarat.

Speaking on the development, Abhilesh Gupta, Managing Director & CEO, THINK Gas said, “The execution of this long-term agreement builds upon our strategy to diversify our gas portfolio in a complex global environment and offering reliable, flexible, affordable and sustainable solutions to our downstream customers. The supplies from Shell Energy India would help meet the growing demand of our customers, powering homes, vehicles and fuelling industries with cleaner energy.”

Gupta also disclosed that while the agreement with Shell India would help cater to a part of the New Delhi-headquartered CGD player’s projected energy requirement, they are simultaneously “evaluating other similar partnerships to satisfy the growing energy needs of our customers.”

India’s natural gas sector is witnessing strong growth, with increasing foreign direct investment (FDI) reflecting global confidence in the country’s clean energy transition potential. This aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision to raise the share of natural gas to 15 per cent in India’s primary energy mix, making it a key driver of the country’s clean energy growth.

The largest FDI recipient in greenfield CGD business in India, THINK Gas currently holds 19 CGD licenses awarded by the Petroleum & Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB) under the aegis of the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas. These licenses cover the exclusive development of CGD infrastructure and supply of natural gas across 49 districts in ten states.
