Gujarat Chief Minister Anandiben Patel has said that work on the Rs 10,000-crore Ahmedabad- Gandhinagar Metro rail project, which is awaiting approval from the Centre, will begin soon. Patel was speaking at the inauguration of the ninth edition of the Mega Industrial Exhibition of Vadodara Chamber of Commerce and Industries (VCCI). The Chief Minister said the Ahmedabad-Gandhinagar Metro project is on track and is being promoted with the objective of providing safe, fast and eco-friendly transportation services to the public at affordable rates while simultaneously reducing congestion on roads.
The project aims to be a model project not only for Gujarat, but also for the entire nation, Anandiben said. The Metro project holds the advantage of a responsive State government and progressive leadership; relatively flat terrain, use of state of the art technology and minimum land acquisition, she added.
