POWERGRID Wins Green World Award 2026 for Climate Change Excellence

Power Grid Corp. of India Ltd (POWERGRID), a Maharatna public sector company under the Union Ministry of Power, has been honoured with the Green World Award 2026 in the climate change category.

The award was presented at a formal ceremony at Cardiff Castle, Wales, UK, recognising POWERGRID’s sustained commitment to environmental stewardship and adoption of climate‑responsive operational practices. The award was received by Vipul Singh, Senior Deputy General Manager, and Manu Sinha, Deputy General Manager, Corporate Social Responsibility.

The Green World Awards are instituted by The Green Organisation, UK, which is an international, independent, non‑profit, non‑political environmental group established in 1994. The organisation is dedicated to recognising, rewarding, and promoting environmental best practice worldwide.

As of March 31, POWERGRID has commissioned and is operating 291 substations, more than 184,960 circuit km of transmission lines, and 624,016 MVA of transformation capacity. With the adoption of advanced technological tools, automation, and digital solutions, POWERGRID has maintained an average transmission system availability of over 99.84 per cent.
