ABB wins Rs 4,350 crore deal for long distance power transmission link

ABB has teamed up with Power Grid Corporation of India Limited in a mega project worth over Rs 4,350 crore for ABB to deliver a transmission link that will have the capacity to bring reliable electricity to more than 80 million people. The Raigarh-Pugalur 800 kilovolt (kV) ultrahigh-voltage direct current (UHVDC) system will connect Raigarh in Central India to Pugalur in Tamil Nadu.

The first super-critical thermal power plant of 660 MW capacity of BHEL - Western Region, at NTPC Mouda plant, is now ready for commercial operation. It has completed the stringent statutory requirement of continuous running for 72 hours at full load (MCR) without a single tripping. The testing was completed in the wee hours of January 5, 2017.
