GSM industry body Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI) has escalated a war of letters by writing to the Telecom minister, reiterating its demand for a review of pricing of CDMA airwaves and reducing the 10 MHz cap on such spectrum, asserting that failure to do so would lead to violation of auction rules.

TRAI to test operator networks in Delhi, Mumbai
To check call drop problem, regulator TRAI has started testing of mobile networks in Delhi and Mumbai to see if operators have taken measures to improve quality of services.

India´s third-largest mobile phone operator, Idea Cellular, said it was setting up infrastructure to launch 4G services in 10 circles by June 2016 and said it would soon catch up with operators which had launched the service.
France, Spain, China to study high speed rail corridors
Moving ahead with the Diamond Quadrilateral project, Railways have selected companies from China, France and Spain to carry out feasibility study of three routes connecting Delhi with Mumbai and Kolkata and also between Mumbai and Chennai.
Rail solar panels can save 11 cr litres of fuel
Fitting a solar panel module on the roof of a railway coach can yield more than 7,200 units of electricity annually. If implemented on all 63,511 coaches in the Railways, 450 million units of power can be harnessed resulting in savings of 10.8 crore litres of diesel and reduction of carbon dioxide emission by about 3 lakh tonne.
Railways to seek Rs.1 lakh cr for safety fund
The Railways Ministry will seek around Rs 1 lakh crore from the finance ministry for a special railway safety fund. This will be used to implement several measures aimed at sprucing up safety performance and checking the spate of recent train accidents which have claimed several lives.
AAI goes for expansion
State-run Airports Authority of India (AAI) will invest up to Rs 1,400 crore in further expansion of Chennai Airport and setting up an ATC tower at Kolkata Airport. This comes after the government dropped its privatisation plans.
Investment in Railways to increase
Girish Pillai, Advisor-Infrastructure, Indian Railways, has highlighted key features of the Indian Railways´ five-year action plan. Pillai said the National Transport Development Policy Committee has estimated investment till 2032 to be worth Rs 32,00,000 crore.
Infra firms pitch for regulator to monitor PPP projects across sectors
Infrastructure players have pitched for a neutral regulator to look into issues in public-private-partnership (PPP) projects. They highlighted this to the Vijay Kelkar Committee that is looking into ´revisiting and revitalising the PPP model of infrastructure development´
