Bharathidasan University recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Bharat Heavy Electronics-EDN, Bengaluru, to set up two solar power plants. The first, a 500-kWp Ground Mounted Grid Interactive Solar PV Power Plant with all possible provisions for increasing the power generation upto 1000 kWp, will be set up on the 10-acre land allotted for this purpose on the main premises. Similarly, two 50-kWp Rooftop Grid Interactive Solar PV Power Plants each- one on the roof terrace of BUTP building and the other over the building of the IECD- would be installed on the Khajamalai campus. BHEL has said that the solar power plants would be ready for commissioning in the first week of January 2016.
