Bengaluru Airport gets green certification for curbing emissions

Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL) has been accredited by the Airports Council International, with ‘Level-3 plus Neutrality’ certification under the Airport Carbon Accreditation.

The airport has received the highest level of environmental achievement available to airports, and has become the fourth such ‘green’ airport in the Asia-Pacific region. BIAL managed to reduce its carbon emissions by 57 per cent since 2008.

BIAL had adopted energy conservation programmes, installed solar power generation systems, and kept a strict watch on air quality, water and energy management
