The government is mulling formulating a policy on setting up low-frills airports in the country. Private airport operators and investors have over last five years contemplated setting up airports or terminals dedicated to low-fare airlines, but hasn't materialised.

ATN system for air safety
Experts from Asia-Pacific nations discussed ways to implement an aeronautical telecom network (ATN) system for seamless exchange of messages for planes flying in the region. The new system would complement and later replace voice communication between air traffic control, pilots and others by providing all flight data and information through messages.

revival of non-operational airstrips
The Airports Authority of India (AAI) plans to revive 28 out of the 40 non-operational airstrips in India for non-scheduled operations. AAI may also look for private participation for these airports.
First pvt regional airports
Regional Airport-Holdings International (RAHI), a private airport developer, announced that it will invest around Rs 3,000 crore in over 15 aviation infrastructure and services projects across the country over the next five years.
