Chandigarh-based Hartek Power has said that its solar grid EPC order size has increased by 733 per cent to 1,025 MW in 2016-17, compared to 123 MW worth of orders the company had received in the previous fiscal.
BHEL bags order from Railways for solar power plant
Power equipment major BHEL has said that it has bagged an order from Indian Railways for installing 2 MW rooftop solar photovoltaic systems at Diesel Locomotive Modernisation Works (DMW) in Patiala. The contract agreement was signed between BHEL and the Indian Railways Organisation for Alternate Fuels (IROAF).
Essar Power’s generation up 49percent in 2016-17
Essar Power has delivered a strong operational performance in 2016-17, with its power generation moving up 49 per cent. Apart from generating more power, the company added 165 megawatt (MW) capacity to its portfolio by commissioning one unit each at its Paradip and Hazira plants. The generation increased 57 per cent year-on-year in the quarter ended March 31, 2017.

Centre releases details on nuclear energy generation
The electricity generation from nuclear power in the last two years, i.e., 2014-15 and 2015-16, was 37,835 million units (MU) and 37,456 MU respectively. The generation in 2014-15 was 35,592 MU of commercial generation and 2,243 MU of infirm (non commercial) generation, while the entire generation in 2015-16 was commercial.
Renewable capacity addition catches up with thermal power in India
Energy transformation has arrived in India. According to the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), IndiaÂ’s total renewable capacity including solar, wind, biomass and small hydro grew by around 11.2 GW in FY2016-17, at par with thermal capacity addition, which registered a decline of 50 per cent in the year.
