RLDA is a statutory authority established by the Union Ministry of Railways for generating non-fare revenue from railway land.

A highly fuel efficient, Common Rail Electronic Direct Fuel Injection (CReDI) system is to be developed by Indian Railways for its fleet of diesel locomotives. It is to alleviate the effect of rising fuel prices and increasing pollution from transport sector. The system is expected to save about Rs 500-600 crore annually on the railways fuel bill and reduce emissions by 30 per cent.

Mumbai likely to have its Metro rail service by this year end, said the project executing company Reliance Infrastructure on August 27. The company added that it is waiting for requisite approvals. The firm is planning expansion of the metro line. Once it started, the Mumbai Metro rail can accommodate seven lakh passengers a day.
