Concern over delay in PMGSY road projects in Odisha

In Odisha, implementation of road projects under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) are getting delayed and the Union government has expressed concern on the same. The Union government is also worried over the quality of the construction work of the roads under PMGSY. This has been conveyed to the Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik by the Union Rural Development Minister Jairam Ramesh through a letter.

Kalpi Road in Kanpur to be reconstructed soon

The Uttar Pradesh government has sanctioned work order for reconstruction of Kalpi Road (National Highway -25) Kanpur between Jarib Chauky and Vijay Nagar Crossing. Historic Kalpi Road connects Kanpur to Jhansi and is a part of the National Highway -25. The State Public Works Department (PWD) in Kanpur had sent a proposal in this regard to its headquarter.

Nagaland forms HPC for road works in Dimapur

A High Power Committee (HPC) has been formed by the Nagaland government to study the road system in Dimapur and to draw up Action Plan for works on several roads in the city. The State Roads and Buildings Minister Kuzholuzo (Azo) Neinu had stated on August 16 that the government would fully empower the HPC to tackle issues involving these road projects in the city.

NHAI to cancel three highway projects

Media reports say that the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) Board on August 22 has decided to cancel three highway projects of PNC Infra, C&C Construction and Era Infrastructure. Sources concerned said that the developers had not paid the performance guarantee amount after winning the projects and that is why the Board has decided to cancel the highway projects. These developers would lose their bid security, which is one per cent of total project cost.

The Standing Committee of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) on August 22 expressed its dissatisfaction over the road maintenance works in Hyderabad city and non-implementation of various resolutions by the engineering staff concerned. The Committee members took objection to the functioning style of engineers and said the resolutions of the committee and general body were not being implemented.
