As the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) could not acquire land required for road construction, it has scrapped highway projects worth Rs 4,000 crore in Goa and Kerala states. Referring the NHAI's inability to build the 4,000 crore highways, the Federation of National Highway Builders said that a new land acquisition law for public purpose has to be implemented and coordination between NHAI and State governments should be more.

India, China to tie-up to cooperate in road sector
For cooperating in their road and transport sector, India and China are set to sign an agreement when Prime Minister Manmohan Singh visits Beijing in next October. Rs 5,000 cr needed to restore roads & bridges in U’khand
To restore the washed out roads and bridges in Uttarakhand, the Union government has been urged by its Road Ministry to provide Rs 5,000 crore. Only 52 potholes on 652 newly-built Mumbai roads: Report
Mumbai's 652 newly-constructed roads have only 52 potholes, SGS India private Ltd, a Switzerland - based third party auditor, has stated in its report submitted to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation. According to the report, it found only 52 potholes, which disturbed just a fraction Ćā 0.028 per cent Ćā of the total area of roads built by contractors under its supervision.
Swift repair to caved-in key road in Mumbai
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has restored the caved-in road portion of Netaji Subhashchandra Marg, near Girgaum Chowpatty in the city. The road portion was caved in because of a pipeline burst on the morning of August 24. Now the road has been reopened for traffic.
Two civic bodies in Odisha to build plastic roads
Now two civic bodies in Odisha-Bhubaneswar and Cuttack are to construct roads by using the recycled plastic. By doing so, the the government plans to get rid of the twin cities of plastic waste. NHAI to scrap 6 projects due to land acquisition issues
The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has decided to scrap six projects worth Rs 4,000 crore due to land acquisition hurdles. NHAI's move comes while the Union Ministry of Road Transport has been trying to revive interest in the road sector through a slew of measures including amendments in the exit policy for private developers and rescheduling the premium that the developers owe the NHAI.
Goa to take up road repairs from Sept 15
The Goa government will take up road repairs from September 15. Roads battered by rains will be taken up for repairs and those road contracts with three-year warranty period will be repaired by the contractors concerned at their cost. The State Public Works Department (PWD) will undertake temporary repairs as soon as the rains recedes.
