To ease traffic problem in Berhampur, the Berhampur Development Authority (BDA) has proposed construction of a ring road, a bypass and an internal bypass in different locations. The decision was taken at the development authority meeting held in the town on March1. The proposed 52-km ring road will cover Ragunathpur, Ratanapur, Digapahandi Road, Chikiti Road, Haladiapadar, National Highway 5, Korapalli, University Road, Golabandh Gate and Ragunathpur.

In Gujarat, construction of the Modasa-Malpur road was stalled for a prolonged time on March 1 after local residents near the Malpur road by-pass protested against the poor quality bitumen used in the construction. The road is being constructed by the State Roads and Buildings Department. Protesting residents had called an immediate stop of the construction work when the first layer of material prepared for the road eroded causing many motorists to slip.

Arunachal’s Sekong village gets road under PMGSY
In Arunachal pradesh, Sekong, a remote village under Lada circle in East Kameng district, has finally been connected by road under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojna (PMGSY). The 25-km road, leading to Sekong village from Richukrong, a remote circle, was constructed by the Rural Works Department, Seppa with an estimated cost of Rs 19 crore.
Widening of Chennai’s Poonamallee High Road in progress
The Tamil Nadu Highways Department is presently widening a small but crucial portion of Poonamallee High Road near Aminjikarai. The 300-metre stretch is a major bottleneck as the road, which is broad in most places, suddenly narrows down in this part to a single-lane facility. Residents and shopkeepers in the locality said traffic was sluggish on this stretch during rush hour.
C’garh UT admin seeks 3-tier road link to Mohali airport
A three-tier road connectivity to Chandigarh from the upcoming international airport in Mohali has been demanded by UT administration and the matter has been taken up with the high powered inter-state coordination committee constituted by the Government of India. The administration has rued that none of the access options for Chandigarh being considered for the expanded airport compares with the access currently enjoyed by Chandigarh's residents.
Govt to construct 27 roads along Sino-Indian borders

is to construct 27 strategic border roads. Approving the road works the government has estimated cost for the same at Rs 1,937 crore. This was stated by Minister of State for Home Mullapally Ramachandran in Lok Sabha February 26.
