Estimates for massive makeover of seven roads in Gurgaon city has been finalised by the Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA) and the the work will start in May. The decision to rework the roads was taken after carrying out an onsite survey three months ago.

Express way to decongest Delhi roads, Rs 621 cr cleared
The Delhi Cabinet has cleared Rs 621 crore for acquiring land for the eastern and western peripheral highways project to de-congest DelhiĆās roads by diverting inter-state traffic not destined for the Capital. Land acquisition cost has gone up from an initial Rs 844 crore, estimated in 2007, to almost Rs 2,500 crore.
Delhi to have Vikaspuri-Meera Bagh elevated road
In Delhi, the Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit inaugurated an elevated corridor from Vikas Puri to Meera Bagh on February 26. She had promised an elevated road to residents of Ayanagar. This corridor will be constructed at a cost of Rs 559.60 crore, including the construction of an elevated road from Vikaspuri to Meera Bagh.
Odisha’s Mahendragiri yet to have all-weather road
In Odisha, the Mahendragiri of Gajapati district is not only a religious place, but also a famous tourist place. However, now it needs proper attention to save the heritage place. Mahendragiri has yet to get an all weather road. Earlier, the Andhra Pradesh Government included Mahendragiri hills in Gajapati district in the official website of the Andhra Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (APTDC) portal.
Survey favours easy exit norms for highway developers
Taking note of difficulties faced by road projects, the Economic Survey has favoured easing of exit routes for highway developers. Exit routes need to be eased so that promoters can sell equity positions after construction, passing on all benefits and responsibilities to entities that step in, says the Survey.
Government to pace up NHDP projects
The Government of India has taken several initiatives to expedite highway projects under the National Highway Development Project (NHDP). The initiatives are: NHAI Board has approved formation of a High Level Expert Settlement Advisory Committee for one time settlement of old cases pending in court.
Noida Authority to build a double U-turn at sector 15A
Paving way for providing a signal-free corridor and streamlining traffic flow between Delhi and the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway, the Noida Authority has managed to get the design for the double U-turn on the road running in front of Sector 15A approved. The proposal was in a limbo for the last two months over the issue of felling of 60 trees in the area.
J&K’s left out habitations to be provided road links
Jammu and Kashmir Minister for R&B Abdul Majid Wani on February 23 said that the Union government approved revision of its core network to include as many as 1,100 left out unconnected habitations with a population of 250 persons and above in Jammu and Kashmir under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojna (PMGSY).
Canal Road in Nagpur repaired for the 4th time in 2-yrs
Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) has wasted money on repairing (asphalting) a road for the fourth time in the last two years, well within the defect liability period in which the contractor is responsible for any problems. At the same time, a nearby stretch of road has been neglected for over 10 years. The sorry state of affairs continues despite strict directives by municipal commissioner Shyam Wardhane.
NHAI to have final say on road alignment in Kerala
The Kerala government will no longer push for any comprehensive changes in the alignments fixed by National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) for widening of highways in Kerala. Emphasising its stand, the State government has decided to set up a committee chaired by the chief secretary for rectifying mistakes, if any, at places where there is serious problems and for protecting the places of worship from demolition.
