India to have world’s most extensive road network
India will soon have one of the world's most extensive National Highway networks through various phases of the National Highways Development Project. The projects were being financed largely through user fees from toll collection points on these improved highways, Union Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways Sarvey Sathyanarayana said in Coimbatore on January 8.

For the proposed Agra-Lucknow expressway Uttar Pradesh government on January 3 selected a consortium of feedback infrastructure services and Redecon India as the project development consultant. The project is estimated to cost Rs 10,500 crore. The selection was finalised in a meeting chaired by the State Infrastructure & Industrial Development Commissioner (IIDC) Anil K Gupta.
GMR Infra drops Rajasthan-Gujarat road widening project
Citing the Union government's failure to provide required land and environment clearances for its 555 km highway stretch project between Kishangarh in Rajasthan to Ahmedabad in Gujarat, GMR Infrastructure on January 7 said it will not widen the highway stretch.
AP’s 11 State highways to become national highways
In Andhra Pradesh, the Union Ministry for Road Transport and Highways has notified/cleared 11 State roads as national highways spanning a length of 1,817 km. Of this bunch of approvals, five State roads are already notified as national highways and the rest of the six have been now cleared to be taken up as national highways.

Widening of two roads in Arunachal is on: BRO

Sources in Madhya Pradesh bureaucracy complain that inadequate funds being provided by the Centre is a main reason for bad condition of roads in the state. On the development of national highways passing through the state Centre provide megre funds for their maintenance, official sources said.
