India has signed an agreement with World Bank for a credit of $360 million for Uttar Pradesh Water Sector Restructuring Project Phase-II. The agreement for the credit was signed in Delhi recently by Nilaya Mitash, Joint Secretary, Department of Economic Affairs, Ministry of Finance on behalf of the Government of India and Onno Ruhl, Country Director, World Bank on behalf of the World Bank.

State level regulator for water sector soon
With an aim to put more emphasis on water conservation the government chalks out plan to create state level regulator for water. The said regulator will be in charge to manage stress of future water requirements, said a senior Planning commission official.
China’s Haitang Bay project includes dredging
In China, a contract worth Yuan 1.36 billion has been bagged by CCCC Fourth Harbor Engineering Co for water works of Haitang Bay in Sanya. The EPC contract period is two years. Located at Haitang Bay National Coastal Tourism Development Zone, the project is divided into south, central and north sections according to the preliminary design.
Roads in Cuttack water-logged
In Cuttack, the ongoing integrated drainage development project and road construction work has doubled the water-logging problems in the city. The drainage project has been funded by Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
AP bandh hits work at Kakinada ports
Agitation demanding the Centre to keep Andhra Pradesh united has hit operations at the two ports — the old anchorage port and also the new deepwater port in Kakinada in the coastal area of the state. SPML Infra secures orders worth 1802.10 crore
SPML Infra has won new orders worth Rs 1802.10 crore from South Bihar Power Distribution Company (SBPDCL), Bihar and Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) of Rajasthan. The two orders received from SBPDCL worth Rs 1,000 crore are for the rural electrification projects in Patna and Gaya districts under Rajiv Gandhi Grameen Vidhyutikaran Yojana.
Water woes to Rs 37,229 cr HPCL refinery in Rajasthan
The Rajasthan government now finds it difficult to supply water to the proposed Rs 37,229 crore oil refinery unit of 9 million tonne capacity. The Rajasthan government and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation (HPCL) have signed an agreement in last March to set up the refinery, which will process oil from Cairn India's fields in the state and other crudes.
Udupi to get Varahi river water supply soon
In Karnataka, Udupi city will be provided drinking water supply from Varahi river and a dam will be constructed in Saligrama town panchayat limits. For the purpose, Rs 450 crore has been set aside under the phase two of Karnataka Urban Development and Coastal Environmental Management Project (KUDCEMP), said the State Urban Development Department and district in charge minister Vinay Kumar Sorake.
